Vision 2020 was the theme at the recent Travel Solutions International (TSI) Global Conference held at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi. The future of the Travel Industry was discussed along with interactive work sessions and key speakers to 33 participating member countries.

“With technology innovation growing exponentially along with client expectations, we have to take a realistic snapshot of where we are heading as an industry, in order to stay relevant and current” said David Gorecki (Chairman) of TSI. “TMC’s are moving towards becoming Technology Companies that facilitate Travel and we have to be very cognizant of that. Millennials will occupy a substantial amount in the work force by 2020 and the way they travel and how they do their bookings are significantly different to the current workforce. Gamification of corporate travel will also be a large factor in driving the ever rising costs of travel down. These are some of the factors that we need to look at and ensure that we as an industry adapt to the ever-changing landscape.”

In order to get a perspective on how the travel industry will change by the year 2020, TSI looked at the other areas within the industry and invited key suppliers to express their point of view. Danny Barranger (VP Global Sales) from Etihad who gave a thought provoking talk on the future of the airlines and stated that the customer service experience and uniqueness of product would be defining factors for future travelers. Antoine Medawar – (VP – Middle East & North Africa) from Amadeus spoke about the future of the GDS and assured everyone that the GDS was here to stay. The GDS is one of the most complex forms of data consolidation for the travel Industry that it would not be affected at all by the proposed roll out to the NDC.

TSI also announced the appointment of Paul Spencer (TSI UK) as the new Strategic Sales Manager for TSI who will be heading up the Global Sales Team. “I am very proud to be part of the Strategic team for TSI. We have grown phenomenally well over the last two years with our member base up to 33 countries and through the growth of our combined capabilities we have acquired a number of multinational accounts to the value of USD100 million in the last two months. With the platforms and systems that we are currently expanding on, TSI will be the go-to network for Global Travel Management.” Said Paul Spencer.
